At least 30 flights from IGI airport were delayed and 17 were cancelled due to weather conditions as the national capital woke to freezing weather today. According to the IGI airport officials, these flights were delayed, which were supposed to be departing from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport this morning. According to the Met Office, the minimum temperature was recorded at 5 degrees Celsius.
Delhi’s IGI airport declared a key update and said that the low visibility procedures are in progress at the airport, and all flight operations are presently normal. It is also said that air passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information. In addition to that, the Indian Meteorological Department said that the Palam and Safdarjung airports have reported 500-meter visibility.
According to the MeT office, the fog is considered to be shallow when the visibility stands up to 500 meters, and moderate fog occurs when the visibility remains up to 200 meters. In fact, the fog is categorized as dense when the visibility is up to 50 meters, and it is categorized as’very dense’ when the visibility reaches below 50 meters.
