Dense fog shrouded Delhi and its neighboring areas this morning, reducing visibility to near zero and affecting road, rail, and flight movement. The IMD stated that New Delhi is likely to receive light rainfall for two days starting today owing to a western disturbance in the Himalayan region.
The IMD also noted that with two western disturbances in quick succession likely to hit northwest India, light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/snowfall was very likely in Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand till February 4 and decreased significantly thereafter.
Due to the poor weather conditions and thick fog in the national capital, several trains going towards or leaving Delhi were delayed. From 1:30 am, there was poor visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, affecting flight operations, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The Delhi airport issued an advisory urging travelers to get in touch with their airlines for the most updated flight information. While takeoffs and landings at Delhi Airport continue, non-CAT III compliance flights may experience delays.
If passengers need up-to-date flight information, they should get in touch with the relevant airline. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused, Delhi airport officials stated.
