UP has scrapped mandatory prepaid smart electricity meters and reverted all connections to a postpaid billing system. The decision comes after widespread consumer complaints over technical issues. Now, users will receive monthly bills, with about 15 days to pay, and existing prepaid meters will function like traditional postpaid systems.
