The popular Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) today conducted a massive stage protest against the 2024 interim budget. The SKM has conducted a huge protest, which happened in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. It is known that the Samyukta Kisan Morcha is a union of labor unions.
During the protest, copies of the 2024 interim budget were burned at the statue of Alluri Sitaramaraj in the local jute mill center. Hundreds of protesters raised slogans against subsidies given to corporations, which they saw as a burden on the people.
The Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangam District Secretary Srinivas, IFTU District General Secretary Badda Venkatarao, CITU District Vice President Somaiya, and AITUC District President Reddy Srinivasa Dange also joined in the protest. Protesters also objected to the absence of proposals for a support price guarantee law and farmer loan waivers.
It is known that the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, which was formed in November 2020, is made up of at least 40 Indian farmer’s unions. The SKM’s main purpose is to oppose the three farm acts that the PM Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) aims to implement. However, the farmers’ method is Satyagragh protest against the decision by three farm acts.
