Dr. BR Ambedkar was born in Mhow (Madhya Pradesh) on April 14, 1891. He was Ramji Maloji Sakpal’s 14th and last child. Babasaheb, a Dalit from a low-income family, saw firsthand the injustices and persecution his group endured.
He graduated with a degree in economics and political science. He started off working for the Baroda State Government. At the age of 22, he received a scholarship to study at Columbia University. He became the first Indian to pursue a doctorate in economics abroad.
