Former Union Minister Sharad Pawar recently addressed the ongoing speculation regarding his relationship with his nephew, Ajit Pawar. At a press conference in Chiplun, located in the coastal Konkan region, Sharad Pawar emphasized that while they remain united as a family, Ajit is currently leading a separate political party. He stated, “Gharat tari ekatrach ahet” (we are together at home at least), indicating their familial bond despite political differences.
This statement comes in response to calls from various factions within Maharashtra urging the uncle-nephew duo to reunite politically. Notably, Ajit Pawar had previously separated from Sharad Pawar’s faction in July 2023 to join the Eknath Shinde-led government, where he serves as Deputy Chief Minister. Recent discussions have raised questions about his future within the ruling alliance, particularly as speculation grows regarding his political stability.
