The AIMIM party chief Asaduddin Owaisi has announced that his party will contest the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls. It has been revealed that five MIM candidates will be selected.
Owaisi said that Aurangabad Lokmaji MP Imtiaz Jalil will file his nomination. Along with Jalil, MLAs Mufti Ismail, Shah Farooq Annar, Farooq Shabdi, and Raees Lashkaria are said to be in the contest.
Asaduddin Owaisi is an influential Indian politician and the president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), a party primarily focused on representing the interests of the Muslim community in India.
Born on June 13, 1970, in Hyderabad, Owaisi has been a prominent figure in Indian politics, known for his strong oratory skills and assertive stance on various social and political issues.
Owaisi’s political career began in the late 1990s, when he was elected to the Parliament for the first time. He has since been re-elected multiple times, representing the Hyderabad constituency.
Under his leadership, AIMIM has gained a reputation for its focus on addressing the concerns of minorities, particularly in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana.
The AIMIM, founded in 1927 by Nawab Mahmood Nawaz Jung, initially aimed to represent the Muslim community’s interests in Hyderabad State.
The party’s modern resurgence under Owaisi’s leadership has seen it expand its influence beyond Telangana, making inroads into other states like Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
