The former chief minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, has been sent to five-day custody of the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a land scam case. JMM leader Soren was arrested by the ED after 10 summonses in the land scam case and many hours of questioning on Wednesday night.
Earlier on Wednesday, Soren was sent to one-day judicial custody by a special PMLA court in Ranchi. The ED alleged that it had recovered cash worth in excess of Rs 36 lakh from the possession of the JMM chief, along with documents linked to the ongoing probe.
The JMM chief also claimed that he has been facing constant harassment at the hands of the ED. Soren alleged that the probe agency was misusing its authority and powers at the bidding of its political masters.
Earlier on Wednesday, JMM Chief Hemanth Soren met Governor Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhawan in Ranchi. Hemanth Soren handed over his resignation letter to the governor after over six hours of questioning by the ED in connection with a money laundering probe linked to the land scam case.
