Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, according to political sources. He served as the Cabinet Minister of Transport, Scheduled Tribes, and Scheduled Caste and Backward Class Welfare from 2019 to 2024.
Champai Soren is a senior leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party. He arrived in Delhi, and his post on ‘X’ in which he expressed disappointment that he was likely to join the BJP in view of the Jharkhand Assembly polls.
The JMM leaders said he experienced bitter humiliation as chief minister, and three options are open to him, including floating a new outfit.
Champai alleged that all his government events and schemes in the first week of July, when he was the chief minister, were cancelled by the JMM party leadership without his knowledge and permission. He said he kept quiet because he was not greedy for power, but his self-respect was deeply hurt.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren spoke at a government function in Godda district, and he alleged that the BJP brought people from Gujarat, Assam, and Maharashtra to spread poison among the tribals, Dalits, backward classes, and minorities and make them fight with each other.
