After 48 years of membership, ex-Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique declared on Thursday that he is quitting the Congress with immediate effect. He also stated that although certain things are better left unsaid, there were many things he would have liked to express.
In his official ‘X’ account post, the minister stated that he joined the Indian National Congress Party (INC) at a very young age, and it has been a remarkable 48-year journey in the party. He also said that he would like to say a lot, but sometimes it’s better to keep things quiet.
He also conveyed his appreciation to everyone who had helped with this journey. His announcement comes just days after the leaders of the NCP stated that Siddique was anticipated to join the party group led by Maharashtra Dy CM Ajit Pawar.
Following Siddique and his son Zeeshan’s February 1 meeting with Pawar, the NCP leaders made these declarations. Siddique was a three-time MLA from the Bandra West constituency; he was the former state minister for civil supply and food.
He also held the position of chairman of the Mumbai branch of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority. He was chosen to join the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as a corporator after starting off as a student leader. Renowned Muslim leader Siddiqui is well-known in the city for hosting extravagant Iftar parties that draw celebrities like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.
