Residents of Aligarh might face expensive costs if they maintain a dog or cat without the Municipal Corporation’s approval. A ₹5,000 rupee fine will be imposed if a dog or cat is found to be unlicensed. Door-to-door license checks will be conducted by Municipal Corporation personnel.
In the event that a license to own cats and dogs is not secured, the parents will face consequences. Officials said that it is necessary to register by March 31st. This action was taken by Municipal Commissioner Amit Aseri during the dog licensing review.
Expressing his dissatisfaction with the lower number of licenses received, Amit Aseri has instructed teams to visit residential colonies, apartments, and municipalities over the next 15 days to verify the licenses of pets that are kept in households.
People who maintain pets without a license will now face severe consequences in such cases. Despite the Municipal Corporation setting up frequent registration camps for dogs and cats, pet owners are still unable to obtain licenses for their animals.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Rakesh Kumar provided information, stating that in the metropolitan area, just 133 animal enthusiasts have registered their pets. The Municipal Corporation also monitors veterinary cleaning and all dog shows. A surprise probe will also be carried out in this case.
