Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed dissatisfaction with the negligence in distributing ‘compensation’ to farmers for crop damage and has sought explanations from officials in 17 districts.
The compensation and other assistance measures for crops harmed by various disasters were recently reviewed by the Chief Minister. After reviewing, he stated his displeasure at this point with the negligence in double-checking agricultural losses brought on by mistakes and the lack of compensation.
Immediately, CM Yogi directed officials to rectify technical deficiencies and verify cases to ensure affected farmers promptly receive compensation. Strictly addressing the problem, Chief Minister Yogi has asked officials for clarification and ordered them to compensate the impacted farmers right away.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath observed at the review meeting that there were problems with Aadhaar, account numbers, and data-feeding duplication, which stopped thousands of farmers who experienced crop loss in the fiscal years 2021–22 and 2022–23 from receiving compensation.
Several district officials in the state neglected to survey farmers impacted by damaged crops, even after officials were instructed to re-verify and aid farmers who were not eligible for compensation. Farmers were consequently unable to get paid on schedule. He expressed his displeasure, ordered severe action against the 17 ADMs (Finance and Revenue), and requested an explanation from them.
