Kerala Congress March To DGP Office Turns Violent As Police Use Water Cannons

The Kerala Congress protested the recent alleged police action against young Congress workers by staging a protest march to the DGP office on Saturday.

But when the police attacked them with water cannons, the demonstration descended into violence.Today’s encounter was startling.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor remarked, “I personally witnessed the brazenness of their contempt for democracy and human rights.”

“We were peacefully demonstrating when all of a sudden, right behind the stage, a water cannon fires and a tear gas shell explodes without any warning. We are clueless as to why.

There was absolutely no provocation and no warning. I criticized the barbaric act as strongly as can by calling the DGP right away,” Tharoor said.
