Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has leveled serious accusations against the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), claiming that the party misappropriated substantial funds intended for the welfare of the poor during its governance. In a recent address to the Telangana Assembly, Reddy specifically targeted BRS leader T. Harish Rao, asserting that his claims regarding the installation of meters for agricultural pump-sets were misleading.
“Harish Rao’s speech is full of lies. People are not ready to trust the opposition party. People gave a mandate against the BRS and punished them in public court. The opposition has not learnt from it and are making false statements,” Reddy said in a fiery speech.
Reddy asserted that Harish Rao’s statements were filled with inaccuracies, emphasizing that the electorate had decisively rejected the BRS in the recent elections. He stated, “The opposition has not learnt from it and are making false statements,” highlighting the public’s lack of trust in the BRS leadership.
In his speech, Reddy cited various instances of alleged corruption under the BRS administration, including the controversial sale of the Outer Ring Road for only ₹7,000 crore and significant financial irregularities in the sheep distribution and Batukamma saree distribution schemes. He accused BRS leaders of embezzling funds meant for marginalized communities, such as the Kurmas and Yadavs, and criticized the opposition for providing inconsistent figures regarding the Kaleshwaram project expenditures.
Reddy also countered BRS allegations concerning land sales during the Congress tenure, expressing readiness to disclose detailed records of land transactions from the previous government. He claimed that the KCR-led BRS profited from these deals and noted a lack of development in areas like Palamuru, despite substantial investments. He challenged the BRS to agree to an investigation into its schemes, stating that Rangareddy district had deteriorated into a “desert” with no irrigation advancements made.
Overall, Reddy’s statements reflect a broader strategy to position the Congress party as a credible alternative to the BRS, emphasizing accountability and transparency in governance as key themes leading up to the upcoming elections.
