Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar is likely to take oath as the Bihar CM again on Sunday, January 28, with the support of the BJP, severing ties with Lalu Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Reportedly, BJP veteran Sushil Modi is likely to be the new deputy chief minister.
This development came amid political turmoil in Bihar, with tension in the current alliance of the JD (U) and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD. Responding to the development, Sushil Modi said that the doors which are closed can open, calling politics a game of possibilities.
Additionally, Lalu Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya responded angrily to Nitish Kumar’s “parivarvaad” statement in a since-deleted tweet. The tension that has been simmering for a while now reached its crescendo this week when socialist icon “Karpoori Thakur” was conferred with the Bharat Ratna by the BJP-led Centre.
Amidst tensions in Bihar, Chirag Paswan canceled all of his 75th Republic Day engagements. The LJP taking to his ‘X’ handle, said that an important meeting was held with the party’s national and state officials under the leadership of Chirag Paswan.
