Lok Sabha Polls: Congress and DMK Will Begin Seat-Sharing Talks Today
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the 18th Lok Sabha polls are likely to be conducted between April and May 2024 to elect 543 members of the Lok Sabha.
The Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will begin seat-sharing talks in Tamil Nadu today, ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the 18th Lok Sabha polls are likely to be conducted between April and May 2024 to elect 543 members of the Lok Sabha.
Senior Congress leader and convener of the National Alliance Committee (NAC), Mukul Wasnik, will engage in seat-sharing talks with leaders from Tamil Nadu. In addition to that, other senior Congress leaders, including Salman Khurshid and Ajoy Kumar, will also conduct talks with the DMK party leaders at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai today.
Interestingly, the Congress party contested 10 seats, out of which it won 9 seats, and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) contested 20 seats and emerged victorious in all seats in Tamil Nadu in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Meanwhile, the alliance led by CM Stalin’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won a landslide victory, taking 38 of the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu.
