Senior Karnataka Congress MLA Shamanur Shivashankarappa has put his hat in the ring for the CM post. He said he “won’t back down” from contesting for the top post if that situation arises. “It is the practice of the High Command that whoever is supported by the majority of the winning legislators becomes the CM. If that situation arises, I won’t back down,” the 93-year old MLA said.
This comes after CM Siddaramaiah declared that there is no doubt about him stepping down. Speculations about Siddaramaiah stepping down intensified on the backdrop of MUDA scam investigation.
Karntaka CM Siddaramaiah reacted to statements made by other Ministers about replacing him as the CM. He asserted that he will continue as the Chief Minister. “When there is no vacancy for the position of CM, the question itself does not arise. It is being said by my party leaders that I will continue as the Chief Minister. There is no doubt about me continuing as CM,” he said.
