Former Union Minister Milind Deora Resigns From Congress

Former Union minister Milind Deora revealed today that he has resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party. Milind is a senior Maharashtra leader, and he ended his family’s 55-year relationship with the Congress Party. Deora shared on ‘X’, and confirmed ending all ties with the grand old party.
In fact, Deora is the son of Congress veteran leader Murli Deora and won the Mumbai South parliamentary constituency in the 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha polls. After that, Deora ended up as the first runner-up in the subsequent Lok Sabha polls in 2014 and 2019 against Shiv Sena (Undivided) leader Arvind Sawant. He won the 2004 Lok Sabha with a margin of 10,000 votes against the BJP’s Jaywantiben Mehta.
Milind Deora served as the Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology from July 2011 to May 2014. Deora also served as the Union Minister of State for Shipping from October 2012 to May 2014. Deora has also inspired Abhishek Bachchan, who played a young politician in the 2009 film Paa. Interestingly, Deora hosted a live Google+ Hangout about the future of IT and communication in India on June 6, 2013.
