Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar, who had switched to the Congress last year in anticipation of the 2023 legislative polls, has returned to the BJP. The national chief spokesperson of the BJP and Rajya Sabha member, Anil Baluni, expressed joy over Shettar’s return, stating, “Today is a day of great happiness for us as Jagadish Shettar is making a return to the BJP. We all welcome him.”
Jagdish Shettar formally rejoined the BJP in New Delhi in the presence of ex-Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa, Union Minister Bhupender Singh Yadav, Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa, and Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
In his remarks after rejoining the party, Shettar mentioned the significant responsibilities given to him by the BJP in the past and explained that due to certain issues, he had joined the Congress.
However, discussions over the past eight to nine months, coupled with the requests from BJP workers, led to his decision to return to the party. Shettar expressed his belief in Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating, “I am rejoining the party with the belief that Narendra Modi ji has to become the PM again.”
Prior to his rejoining, Jagdish Shettar met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.
