BJP Demands Arvind CM Arvind Kejriwal’s Resignation After Delhi HC’s Verdict
BJP has intensified its demand for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's resignation following the Delhi High Court's verdict upholding his arrest by the CBI in the alleged excise policy scam case.
The BJP has intensified its demand for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation following the Delhi High Court’s verdict upholding his arrest by the CBI in the alleged excise policy scam case. BJP Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva stated that the high court’s decision, along with the Supreme Court’s order on the lieutenant governor’s powers, are victories for the people of Delhi.
Sachdeva questioned whether Kejriwal has the moral authority to continue as Chief Minister, alleging that the administration is “paralysed” and no AAP minister is willing to take responsibility. The BJP has accused Kejriwal of being the “main conspirator” in the “liquor scam” and claimed that there is “crucial evidence” against him.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari asserted that the evidence gathered by the ED reveals that Kejriwal is the “kingpin” in the case. The party has alleged that the AAP government is “nurturing the corrupt system” and is itself involved in corruption.
The BJP has stepped up its attack on Kejriwal, demanding his resignation and accusing him of forfeiting the moral right to continue as Chief Minister. The party claims that the high court’s observations have “smashed the arrogance of AAP” and exposed their “lies”.
However, Kejriwal has refused to resign, stating that it would set a dangerous precedent and give the BJP-led Central government a free hand to target opposition chief ministers. He has asserted that the excise policy case is “completely fake” and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of hatching a conspiracy to arrest him because he saw AAP could not be defeated in Delhi elections.
