Defense Minister Rajnath Singh responded to the announcement of conferring Bharat Ratna to former Prime Ministers PV Narasimha Rao and Chaudhary Charan Singh
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh responded to the announcement of conferring Bharat Ratna to former Prime Ministers PV Narasimha Rao and Chaudhary Charan Singh, stating that such decisions are made by the government under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership after transcending political considerations.
He emphasized, “Our government… has taken cognizance of this for the first time. We take such decisions only after rising above politics.” Prime Minister Modi announced on Friday that former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh and seasoned Congressman PV Narasimha Rao would receive the Bharat Ratna.
Additionally, agricultural scientist MS Swaminathan was announced as another recipient of the prestigious award. BJP National President JP Nadda extended wishes and commended Chaudhary Charan Singh’s contributions to farmers, stating, “I heartily congratulate the Government of India for its decision to honor former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh ji with the highest civilian honor ‘Bharat Ratna’.”
Moreover, Nadda expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for the historic decision, recognizing Chaudhary Charan Singh’s role in nation-building. In the meantime, NV Subhash, a BJP leader and PV Narasimha Rao’s grandson, claimed that the Gandhi family was mostly responsible for using Narasimha Rao as a scapegoat for the Congress party’s misfortunes.
The statements reflect political leaders’ reactions to the Bharat Ratna announcements, acknowledging the contributions of the awardees and recognizing their impact on various aspects of Indian society.
