Massively Reduced Ordering From Swiggy & Zomato: Capitalmind CEO

Deepak Shenoy, CEO of Bengaluru-based company Capitalmind, expressed his disappointment and revealed that he has significantly reduced his usage of Swiggy and Zomato due to the higher charges.
Mr. Shenoy took to X to share his thoughts, stating, “I have drastically cut down on ordering from Swiggy/Zomato, now just occasionally on weekends, like today, and noticed their ‘platform’ charge is now ₹6. I’m glad I’ve reduced my daily ordering habit. They also charge restaurants 30 percent, by the way.”
He disclosed that previously, he used to order lunch and dinner for his family approximately 12 times a week, but now it has decreased to once a week or once every two weeks.
“I’ve switched to much healthier home-cooked meals,” the founder-CEO added. Deepak Shenoy further emphasized that it wasn’t just the convenience of ordering food online that influenced his decision.
He highlighted the significant increase in platform fees charged by the companies, noting that many restaurants offer lower prices for direct orders, especially for larger orders where the savings can be substantial.
