K. T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), claimed that Telangana’s economy is doing well thanks to efforts made over the last ten years. He asked the Congress government to stop playing politics and to stop criticizing the state. During his speech on the Appropriation Bill, Rama Rao questioned the claims made by the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, Bhatti Vikramarka, about the state’s financial situation using data from the Socio-Economic Outlook and Budget 2024-25 to refute them.
He criticized the government for calling Telangana a “cancer or AIDS patient,” pointing out that the state has achieved a lot after facing challenges. He called for unity among Congress leaders, reminding them that the election is over and it’s time to govern well without damaging the state’s image.
He mentioned that there was doubt about Telangana’s future when it was formed, including predictions that it would fail. However, he said that Telangana has done better than many other states in important economic areas, with its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) increasing from ₹4 lakh crore in 2014 to ₹14.64 lakh crore in 2023-24.
He also said that the average income per person in Telangana went up from ₹1,24,104 in 2014-15 to ₹3,47,299 in 2023-24, making it the state with the highest average income in India.
