Budget 2024: Nirmala Sitharaman Promises 2 Cr Houses In 5 Years
During her speech in parliament budget session 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said today the government will build 2 crore houses in the next 5 years under the 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Gramin Yojana' to meet the requirements arising from the increase in the number of families.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced today that the government will construct 2 crore dwellings in the next five years under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Gramin Yojana’ to satisfy the needs emerging from the growth in the number of families during her statement in parliament during the budget session of 2024.
She also said that despite the challenges arising due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government was close to achieving its target of building three crore houses. Despite the obstacles created by the pandemic, implementation of the ‘PM Awas Gramin Yojana’ proceeded. We are getting close to fulfilling our goal of three crore residences, she added.
The Union Finance Minister further stated that the government proposes to increase capital expenditure outlay by 11.1% to Rs 11.11 lakh crore in 2024–25.
In her opening speech, Sitharaman noted that the Indian economy has undergone a significant transition under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the previous decade, when the government implemented several pro-people structural reforms.
She further asserted that her government is working towards development that is all-round, all-inclusive, and all-pervasive, covering all castes and people at all levels, to make India a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
