An 8.8-magnitude earthquake off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula triggered a tsunami, hitting Hokkaido, Japan, and the Kuril Islands. Warnings extended to Alaska, Hawaii, and New Zealand. Small waves were observed. No major damage or injuries have been reported till now. China may also experience minor wave activity.
