The Health Ministry has warned that India may face intense heatwaves from April to June 2026, with above-normal hot days expected across several regions. States have been asked to activate heat action plans, set up heatstroke units, stock essential medicines and ORS, and strengthen hospitals to handle rising heat-related illnesses during the peak summer season.
