At least 24 long-distance express trains are running very late today due to low visibility amid dense fog in several areas of the country and the national capital. However, the list includes the Gaya-New Delhi Mahabodhi Express (12397) train, which was running eight hours late, and several flights were also very late due to poor visibility conditions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) revealed that the mercury dipped to 4.4 degrees Celsius in the national capital today. According to the IMD, Lodhi Road recorded a minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius, Safdarjung recorded 4.4 degrees Celsius, and the Palam area of the national capital recorded 5.9 degrees Celsius.
According to Northern Railways, the Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express train (12801), Katihar-Amritsar Express train (15707), Bhubneshwar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express train (22811), and Bhubneshwar-New Delhi Duronto train (12281) were delayed by 5 hours. In addition to that, two dozen long-distance trains are running behind schedule by up to 8 hours or more.
Meanwhile, severe dense fog and cold weather conditions continue to hamper train movements to and from the national capital. However, cold-day conditions were also observed in many areas of the National Capital.
