The Indian Meteorological Department has announced that Andhra Pradesh is expected to experience heavy rains over the next two days.
The North and South Coast districts are likely to receive significant rainfall, while the Rayalaseema districts may see moderate rains. Gusty winds with speeds of 30 km per hour are anticipated, and residents in coastal areas are advised to remain alert.
Andhra Pradesh’s coastal areas, stretching over 972 kilometers along the eastern shore of India, are known for their diverse landscapes and vibrant culture.
The coastline features beautiful beaches like Visakhapatnam, Bheemili, and Machilipatnam, attracting tourists and locals alike. This region is characterized by a rich marine ecosystem, which makes it an essential area for fishing and aquaculture.
The coastal districts, including Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, and West Godavari, are not only vital for fisheries but also for agriculture, particularly rice and horticulture, benefiting from the fertile delta regions of the Godavari and Krishna rivers.
The coastal areas are culturally rich, home to various festivals, traditional art forms, and historic temples. However, these regions also face challenges such as cyclones, rising sea levels, and environmental degradation.
