ED Issues Summons To TMC MLA In Multi-Crore Teacher Recruitment Scam
Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Jiban Krishna Saha for questioning regarding the ongoing investigation into the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Jiban Krishna Saha for questioning regarding the ongoing investigation into the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam. Saha is required to appear at the ED’s Calcutta office on Monday at 11 am.
Previously, Saha was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on April 17, 2023, at his home in Baarwan, linked to the multi-crore jobs scam, but he was subsequently released. The scandal gained significant attention after the CBI detained former state education minister Partha Chatterjee and several officials from the West Bengal School Service Commission in July 2022 due to their alleged roles in the illegal recruitment of teachers.
In connection with this investigation, the ED has conducted searches related to Partha Chatterjee’s close associate, Arpita Mukherjee, resulting in the seizure of approximately ₹21 crore in cash and jewelry valued at over ₹1 crore from her residence.
