Anurag Thakur, the union minister, attacked the opposition parties for making the MP’s suspension political. The opposition party leaders, he claimed, were seeking an excuse to abstain from the winter session.
According to him, the opposition took this action because the INDIA group did not fare well in the most recent assembly elections. This occurs two days following the sine die adjournment of the Winter Session of Parliament.
Notably, during the winter session, 146 MPs in total—100 from the Lok Sabha and 46 from the Rajya Sabha—were suspended. They were placed on suspension for raising a commotion and interfering with both houses’ business.
Union Minister Amit Shah was pressed by the opposition MPs for an explanation regarding the event involving the breach of Parliament’s security. In addition, Thakur charged that opposition politicians were insulting the Indian Vice President and not taking politics seriously.
