Nilesh Sabe, a young entrepreneur from Akola, Maharashtra, embodies the spirit of resilience and ambition. His journey began with significant sacrifices made by his parents, who mortgaged their two-acre farm to fund his engineering education. This investment in his future has paid off remarkably, as Nilesh has transformed from a job seeker into a successful entrepreneur, now running a company with an impressive annual turnover of Rs 60 crore.
A Dream Realized Through Sacrifice
Nilesh Sabe hails from Kolasa, a small village in Balapur taluka of Akola district. His parents, Ramdas and Nirmala Sabe, took a substantial financial risk by mortgaging their land to enroll him in an engineering college. Nilesh graduated from Ram Meghe College of Engineering and Management in 2018, specializing in Information Technology. After completing his degree, he secured a job in Pune with a modest salary of Rs 12,000. His parents hoped that he would eventually repay the loan and reclaim their mortgaged land.
The Leap into Entrepreneurship
However, after just three months in his job, Nilesh realized that his true passion lay in entrepreneurship. Despite his parents’ initial shock at his decision to leave a stable job, they supported him wholeheartedly. This encouragement became a vital source of strength for Nilesh as he embarked on his entrepreneurial journey. He founded a business magazine called “SwiftNLift,” which aimed to showcase the success stories of prominent entrepreneurs across the country.
Navigating Challenges During the Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges for many businesses, including Nilesh’s magazine. However, he turned adversity into opportunity. Observing that certain industries in the United States were thriving despite the lockdown, Nilesh reached out to American entrepreneurs to feature their success stories in his magazine. This strategic move not only expanded his magazine’s reach but also established his brand in both the Indian and American markets.
Expanding Horizons and Creating Opportunities
With the growing popularity of “SwiftNLift,” Nilesh began organizing exhibitions to promote entrepreneurs’ products and services. He developed specialized software to enhance security for entrepreneurs and initiated awards to recognize their contributions to society. The Maharashtra Udyogratn Purskar award show significantly boosted his company’s profile, contributing to its remarkable turnover of Rs 60 crore.
A Commitment to Employment
Today, Nilesh Sabe’s company employs over 70 IT engineers, more than 350 MBA graduates, and several professionals in mass communication and graphics. He is committed to providing job opportunities to graduates from his alma mater, Ram Meghe College of Engineering and Management. During a recent campus recruitment drive, Nilesh expressed his desire to hire an additional 100 to 150 youth, emphasizing his dedication to uplifting the next generation of professionals.
Recognition and Pride
The principal of Ram Meghe College, Dr. Dinesh Harkut, praised Nilesh’s achievements, noting that it is rare for a student from humble beginnings to establish a successful business with a turnover of Rs 60 crore within just a few years of graduation. Nilesh Sabe’s journey from a mortgaged farm to a flourishing enterprise serves as an inspiring testament to hard work, determination, and the transformative power of education.
