The South Central Railway canceled 41 trains for the next 2 days due to heavy rains in several parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
A senior official of SCR said that these 41 trains running on various routes in Vijayawada division have been cancelled. He also said that emergency helpline services have been set up at major railway stations for the convenience of passengers.
Earlier on Friday, the South Central Railway canceled 94 trains and diverted another 41 trains starting from the 4th week of September.
According to the DM of SCR, these changes are due to the conversion of the existing 2-line route between Warangal-Hasanparthi-Kazipet ‘F’ cabin into 4 lines. The timings of 27 trains have been altered, leading to significant disruptions in train traffic in the coming days.
The South Central Railway (SCR) zone, headquartered in Secunderabad, was established in 1966. The SCR operates in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and parts of Tamil Nadu and Gujarat.
Key routes include the Vijayawada-Mumbai line, the Hyderabad-Kolkata line, and the Secunderabad-Tirupati line. The SCR boasts several prominent stations, including Secunderabad, Vijayawada, and Hyderabad, which are major railway hubs.
The SCR is also a significant player in freight transportation, handling a large volume of cargo, including coal, iron ore, and agricultural products. The zone is involved in various green initiatives, including solar-powered stations and water recycling systems to promote sustainability.
