UK Man Found Guilty Of Abusing Wife & Putting Her In Vegetative State
A woman was told in court that her in-laws in the UK had placed her in a vegetative condition because they felt she had "not lived up to expectations" as a wife. This was reported by the Telegraph. In 2015, Ambreen Fatima Sheikh, a Pakistani immigrant to the UK, lost consciousness due to an "irretrievable" brain injury. The Leeds Crown Court also heard that three days after she was effectively tortured, her husband, Asghar Sheikh, did not call for an ambulance.
A woman was told in court that her in-laws in the UK had placed her in a vegetative condition because they felt she had “not lived up to expectations” as a wife. This was reported by the Telegraph. In 2015, Ambreen Fatima Sheikh, a Pakistani immigrant to the UK, lost consciousness due to an “irretrievable” brain injury. The Leeds Crown Court also heard that three days after she was effectively tortured, her husband, Asghar Sheikh, did not call for an ambulance.
The woman’s attorneys informed the court that she did not have diabetes but suffered a terrible burn mark on her lower back and was forced to take anti-diabetic medicine. On Monday, Ms. Sheikh, 30, her mother-in-law Shabnam Sheikh, sister-in-law Shagufa Sheikh, and father-in-law Khalid Sheikh were found guilty of causing her physical harm. After being married to Asghar Sheikh, Sheikh moved to the UK in 2014. All four of them moved in with her when she moved into the family house. Ultimately, she started to withdraw herself socially. At the end of July 2015, the prosecution claimed she was a vulnerable person, according to her attorneys.
Additionally, it is believed that Ms. Sheikh was chemically drenched while being held captive at the Leeds family residence. In-depth information regarding the “pattern of violence” behind closed doors was also provided by her lawyers. When her sister paid her a visit, they said that Ms. Sheikh’s husband had made death threats against her. According to a story in The Telegraph, Shagufa Sheikh said her sister-in-law “couldn’t breathe properly” and dialed for an ambulance on August 1, 2015. Ms. Sheikh was unconscious and resting on the bed when the paramedics came. She had a serious burn to her lower back and cerebral edema, according to the results of the testing. “Some form of caustic substance” was the culprit, according to the medical specialists. The jury took ten hours to find Ms. Sheikh’s in-laws guilty of seriously hurting her physically. The court stated that the sentence would be carried out at a later time.
