Former deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Dr. Thatikonda Rajaiah, is likely to join Congress soon. In a huge setback for the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Thatikonda Rajaiah resigned from the party today. In the recently concluded Telangana assembly polls, the BRS fielded senior leader Kadiyam Srihari from the Ghanpur seat in place of Rajaiah.
It is known that Thatikonda Rajaiah was a former MLA from Station Ghanpur, and he submitted his resignation to BRS’s top leadership. However, Station Ghanpur is one of the three constituencies in the Jangaon district and is part of the Warangal Lok Sabha constituency.
Dr. Thatikonda Rajaiah was also a medical practitioner, and he has been serving as the MLA for the Station Ghanpur assembly constituency since the year 2009, representing the Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
In his early political life, Rajaiah began as a member of the Congress but later joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi party to support the separate Telangana state movement. Rajaiah was also sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana State with the Department of Health and Family Welfare on June 2, 2014.
