The ruling party is becoming more powerful in the Sircilla Assembly seat, which is home to BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, as a result of numerous political party leaders—particularly those from the BRS—joining the Congress. Manjula Reddy and her spouse, Ramalinga Reddy, leaders of the BRS Thangallapalli ZPTC, switched to Congress a few days ago. They were followed by fifteen BRS council members, who also made the decision to file a resolution of no confidence in Jindham Kala, the municipal chairwoman. Coincidentally, the motion for no-confidence is being moved by 20 of the 39 council members. Gaddam Narsaiah, the president of Rythu Bandhu Samithi district and a prominent member of the BRS, abandoned the party and joined the Congress prior to the Assembly elections.
The BRS is losing ground not just in the Sircilla constituency but also in the Vemulawada sector. Pulkam Raju, the town president of Vemulawada; Srilakshmi, the co-option member; and Bingi Mahesh, the councillor for the 14th ward, have all joined the Congress. In the meantime, it is expected that a motion of no confidence against municipal chairwoman R. Madhavi will be brought out, with the support of 21 of the 28 council members. They recently convened and resolved to back Konda Srilatha against Madhavi. Several public representatives from the BRS and other important figures, according to congressional sources, are in regular communication with senior officials of the ruling party and are eager to join it. They said that some of them also intended to present a resolution of no confidence against the MPPs in the district.
