The auspicious Ratha Saptami will be celebrated in Tirumala temple on the occasion of Surya Jayanti on February 16, 2024. It is known that Shukla Paksha Saptami in the holy month of Magha is known as Ratha Saptami or Magha Saptami. According to Hindu Puranas, it is believed that Sri Surya Deva begins enlightening the whole world on this auspicious day, and it is considered the birthday of the deity, which is called Surya Jayanti.
Meanwhile, this year, Radha Sapthami will happen on February 16, 2024. The Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) is now getting ready to host the mega-auspicious festival, making all necessary arrangements in view of the huge rush of devotees.
On a single-day festival, the processional deity of Lord Malayappa takes out a celestial ride on seven carriers from dawn to dusk. The Vahana Seva commences with the Suryaprabha Vahanam, followed by Chinnasesha Vahanam, Garuda Vahanam, Hanumantha Vahanam, Chakrasnanam, Kalpavruksha Vahanam, Sarvabhoopala Vahanam, and Chandraprabha Vahanam.
Specual Arjitha Sevas such as Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam, and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva have been cancelled as part of Radha Sapthami. However, Suprabatham, Thomala, and Archana will be performed in Ekantham.
