TTD To Perform 3-Century-Old Traditional ‘Pallavotsavam’ On July 24
As part of this ritual, the representatives of the State Government of Karnataka and all representatives of Mysore Maharaja will welcome the deities with special harati.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) is all set to perform the 3-century-old traditional ‘Pallavotsavam’ on July 24. The special ritual will be held on the occasion of Uttarabhadra Nakshatram, which is the birth star of the Maharaja of Mysore.
As part of this ritual, the representatives of the State Government of Karnataka and all representatives of Mysore Maharaja will welcome the deities with special harati.
In fact, it is known that the Maharaja of Mysore made huge donations of land and jewelry—Garuda, Gaja, Mutyapu Pandiri, Sarvabhupala, Aswa, Suryaprabha, and Chandraprabha Vahanams—to Srivari temple, besides the ivory palanquin used during the Brahmotsavam season.
Notably, the Mysore Maharaja began the prestigious tradition of giving 5 kg of ghee every day to the Brahma Deepa, the Maharaja Deepa, and the Akhanda Deepa in the Srivari temple on behalf of the Mysore Samsthanam, Navaneeta Harathi, every morning before the Suprabhata Seva of Srivaru, which is continuing even today.
As part of the special, a special asthanam will be performed at 7.30 pm on the day of Uttarabhadra Nakshatra every month at Srivari Temple. In the same way, in Ugadi, Diwali, and Anivara Asthana fetes, there is a special puja and Harti in the name of Maharaja of Mysore.
