PM Modi Lays Foundation For Talabira Thermal Power Project
The project has 2,400 MW of capacity in its initial phase and plans for an additional 800 MW in the second phase, with an investment of over Rs 8,000 crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Phase-1 NLC India Talabira thermal power project (2,400 MW) at Sambalpur in Odisha on Saturday. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Governor Raghubar Das, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and several others also joined the event.
PM Modi spoke after laying the foundation stone at Sambalpur and stressed that the central government will always ensure to fulfill its promises. He also said that this thermal power project will ensure Odisha gets round-the-clock electricity supply and also open up employment opportunities.
The project has 2,400 MW of capacity in its initial phase and plans for an additional 800 MW in the second phase, with an investment of over Rs 8,000 crore. Meanwhile, the project is likely to become the largest Greenfield Pithead Thermal Power Station in the country.
In fact, the NLC India Talabira Thermal Power Project is an initiative by NLC India Ltd. The NLC India Ltd. is also a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, and it is set to revolutionize the energy landscape of our country.
