The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted hailstorms for five north-eastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Sikkim, for today, January 17, 2024. The Regional Meteorological Centre of Guwahati also predicted hailstorms in ten districts of Assam, including Morigaon, Nagaon, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, Dhemaji, Charaideo, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia. Meanwhile, several districts of Assam have been grappling with dense fog conditions over the past few days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a cold wave alert for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan for the next two days. The IMD predicted that cold wave conditions are likely to continue over the plains of Northwest India for the next five days. Meanwhile, the IMD also predicted dense to very dense fog in Northwest India for the next two days.
The IMD predicted light rain in south Bengal districts from Wednesday to Friday, and most districts in the northern part of West Bengal are likely to receive light to moderate rain during the same period. However, light to moderate rainfall is expected over Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Rajasthan, and West Bengal today and tomorrow.
