Virender Sehwag’s Honest Reaction To Gautam Gambhir’s Becoming Team India Coach

Gautam Gambhir’s tenure as the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team started with a T20I series win and an ODI series loss. While there are areas for improvement, his success will ultimately be judged by the team’s performance in ICC events.

Some have raised concerns about certain aspects of Gambhir’s coaching style, but his former opening partner Virender Sehwag believes the challenges are greater for the players than the coach.

“The players recently won the T20 World Cup, so they know their roles. With Gambhir’s arrival, they will gain clarity on their specific responsibilities. This will benefit the Indian team,” Sehwag said in an interview with Amar Ujala.

Sehwag argues that the players face more challenges as they strive to win the Champions Trophy, ODI World Cup, or Test Championship. The coach’s role is to provide support and guidance to help the players achieve their goals.

“Gambhir’s challenges will be less, and the players’ challenges will be more. They will feel the pressure to win more titles after the T20 World Cup triumph,” Sehwag added.
