After the pre-match press conference of Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma, it became clear that Jurel and Sarfaraz will be missing the first Test against Bangladesh is all but settled. Playing XI is : Rohit Sharma (C), Y Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj.
Gambhir all but confirmed the playing XI ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh. He also insisted that the opposition must learn to tackle spin-friendly conditions. Saying that Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel might have to wait a bit, Gambhir stated, “Jurel is a phenomenal player when Pant is coming in, sometimes people have to wait. Same with Sarfaraz.”
Rishabh Pant was seen preparing for his first Test in two years. He took down net bowlers in that unmistakably Pant-ish way. He will be playing Test cricket after 632 days since the road accident. He played a Test match, and, coincidentally, his last five-day game was also against Bangladesh in 2022. Now, the same opposition awaits him on his return to Test cricket come Thursday.
