“Historic Moment”: Bihar Cricket Body Welcomes Budget Allocations
Bihar Cricket Association President Rakesh Tiwari welcomed center's allocations to sports in the state and said, "This is a historic moment for our state's sporting community." Tiwari thanked the finance minister for the substantial investment.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made Bihar-specific announcements in the Union Budget on Tuesday, including the development of sports infrastructure in the state. Sitharaman said these announcements are in line to make the region an engine for achieving ‘Vikshit Bharat’ (developed India).
Bihar Cricket Association President Rakesh Tiwari welcomed center’s allocations to sports in the state and said, “This is a historic moment for our state’s sporting community.” Tiwari thanked the finance minister for the substantial investment.
“The development of new sports facilities is not only a matter of pride but also a crucial step towards nurturing the immense talent pool in Bihar. The advanced infrastructure will provide our athletes with the resources they need to train, compete, and excel at the national and international levels. This initiative will undoubtedly foster a vibrant sports culture in our state,” he said in a statement. The cricket body chief said that this will help Bihar cricket reach new heights.
“The establishment of state-of-the-art medical facilities ensures that our athletes receive the highest level of healthcare and support, enabling them to perform at their best without worrying about injuries or health issues. The inclusion of sports medicine plays a vital role in enhancing the overall performance and health of our players,” he added.
“In the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor, we will support the development of industrial approval at Gaya in Bihar,” Sitharaman said this in her budget speech. “We will support the construction of the Patna-Purnia Expressway, Buxar-Bagalpur Expressway, Bodhagaya-Rajgir-Vaisali-Darbanga Expressway, and an additional two-lane bridge over the Ganga at Buxar, with a total cost of ₹26,000 crore,” she added.
Other announcements for Bihar include human resource development, infrastructure, and the generation of economic opportunities to make the country’s eastern region, comprising Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, an engine for achieving ‘Vikshit Bharat’.
