BRS Working President Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao, popularly known as ‘KTR’, turns 49 on Wednesday. He was born on July 24, 1976, in the Karimnagar district of Telangana. He was born to KCR, who was a former Telangana CM, and K. Shobha Rao, who is a homemaker.
KTR completed his schooling at Amravati Public School at Yousufguda, Nalanda Public School at Mehdipatnam, and St. George’s Grammar School on Abids Road.
He did his intermediate at Vignan Junior College at Vadlamudi in Guntur, AP. After that, he completed his graduation with a BSc in Microbiology, Chemistry, and Botany from Nizam College, an affiliate college of Osmania University in Hyderabad.
He holds two post-graduate degrees so far: the first PG is an MSc in Bio-Technology from the University of Pune. His 2nd PG is a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing and E-Commerce from Baruch College, which is an affiliate college of the City University of New York.
KTR began his political career in the 2009 assembly polls, and he won from the Sircilla Assembly constituency. He served as minister for IT and electronics from 2014 to 2023. He has been awarded Most Inspirational Icon of the Year 2015.
KTR is married to Shailima, and the couple has two children, a son named Himanshu Rao and a daughter named ‘Alekhya Rao.
