Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised former PM Manmohan Singh for his contribution to the nation. PM Modi noted that Dr. Manmohan Singh would always be recognized for his enormous contribution during his parting speech to the Rajya Sabha members today.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s dedication to his role as a member of the Rajya Sabha was praised by PM Modi. PM Modi also said that it doesn’t matter who Manmohan Singh is supporting, and he believed that Manmohan Singh was supporting our democracy.
PM Modi remembered that Manmohan Singh had arrived in Rajya Sabha in August 2023 on a wheelchair to cast his vote on the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023. It is known that retiring Rajya Sabha members will join a farewell event this evening at Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar’s home in New Delhi.
Actually, Singh’s election to the Rajya Sabha dates back to 1991. Singh was re-elected in 1995, 2001, 2007, and 2013 to the Rajya Sabha. Singh also contested for the Lok Sabha from South Delhi but was unable to win the seat in the 1999 polls. It is known that Singh served as the 13th PM of India from 2004 to 2014.
