Prime Minister Narendra Modi today joined a mega roadshow in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. PM Modi reached Rameswaram, and he will be performing darshan and pooja in Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple. During the roadshow, PM Modi was welcomed by the huge crowd of people with a shower of petals.
It is known that Prime Minister Modi is currently observing an 11-day Anushthan ahead of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. During the mega roadshow, thousands of residents were present on both sides of the road to welcome the Prime Minister. PM Modi also waved back to people, reciprocating their gesture.
In fact, Ramanathaswamy Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva located on Rameswaram island in Tamil Nadu. The temple is also one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples,and it is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where Nayanars (Saivite saints), Appar, Sundarar, and Tirugnana Sambandar have glorified the temple with their songs.
According to Hindu Puranas, the Lingam of Ramanathaswamy (Shiva) was set up and worshiped by Rama before he crossed his bridge to the present-day island of Sri Lanka. However, the temple is also one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites.
