The upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Delhi have brought to light the wealth and backgrounds of several key candidates, with Bhojpuri singer-turned-politician Manoj Tiwari emerging as the wealthiest contender. Tiwari, contesting from North East Delhi for the BJP, boasts total assets worth Rs 28.05 crore. His rival, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri of the BJP, follows closely with assets totaling Rs 21.08 crore.

In a surprising twist, Mahabal Mishra of the AAP, standing for West Delhi, ranks third with assets amounting to Rs 19.93 crore. Mishra’s academic credentials include a pre-university certificate from LS College Muzaffarpur, Bihar, obtained in 1971.
Adding to the mix is Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of the late Sushma Swaraj, debuting for the BJP from New Delhi. With assets worth Rs 19 crore, Swaraj is an Oxford-educated lawyer, having earned her Barrister-at-Law from Inns of Inner Temple, London, in 2007.
Rajan Singh, the first third-gender candidate in Delhi’s Lok Sabha polls, brings a unique perspective to the election. Contesting from South Delhi, Singh’s affidavit reveals total movable assets worth Rs 15.10 lakh, highlighting the diversity of candidates in the electoral fray.
Delhi’s political landscape also features seasoned veterans like Udit Raj of the Congress, vying for North West Delhi. Raj, with movable assets worth Rs 5.54 crore, boasts a rich academic background including an honorary doctorate from Bible College and Seminary, Kota.
The election, scheduled for May 25, promises to be a riveting contest with candidates from various backgrounds and political affiliations vying for the mandate of the people. As scrutiny of nomination papers commences on May 7, and the deadline for withdrawal approaches on May 9, Delhi braces for a consequential electoral battle.
