Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, resumed his ‘Memantha Siddham Yatra’ on Monday, following a day of rest advised by doctors due to injuries sustained in a stone-pelting incident. Starting from Keserapalle in Krishna District on the 15th day of the yatra, Reddy, with a bandage over his left eyebrow, greeted the gathered crowds from the bus.
In Keserapalle, Reddy disembarked twice to interact with citizens along the route. The yatra, under tight security due to the April 13 attack in Vijayawada, continued into Gannavaram constituency, drawing hundreds of onlookers. Crossing Atkur Village and Veeravalli Cross, the bus reached Hanuman Junction.
Later, Reddy is scheduled to address a public meeting in Gudivada constituency. He sustained an injury to his left eyebrow in the Ajith Singh Nagar area, while Vijayawada West MLA Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao sustained a left eye injury in the same incident.
Similar incidents of stone pelting occurred during campaigning by Telugu Desam Party chief, N Chandrababu Naidu, and Jana Sena Party leader, Pawan Kalyan. Although both leaders escaped unhurt, heightened security measures are in place along the yatra route to prevent further attacks.
