Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that June 25, the day the Emergency was declared in 1975, will be observed as “Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas” (Constitution Murder Day) by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies. The decision was made during a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shah stated that the BJP and its allies will observe the day as “Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas” to highlight the “murder of democracy” and the “destruction of the Constitution” during the Emergency imposed by the then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The Home Minister emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by those who fought against the Emergency and defended the Constitution.
The BJP and its allies plan to organize various programs and events across the country to mark the occasion and educate the public about the significance of the Constitution and the importance of protecting democratic values. The decision to observe June 25 as “Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas” is part of the BJP’s efforts to highlight its commitment to upholding the Constitution and democratic principles in India.
