On Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced an additional list of 29 candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, bringing the total number of candidates announced to 45.
Among the nominees, Devender Singh Rana will contest from Nagrota, while Satish Sharma has been selected for Billawar, a constituency previously held by former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh during the 2014 elections. The BJP’s latest list includes 10 candidates for the second phase and 19 for the third phase of the elections.
A notable change in this announcement is the replacement of Rohit Dubey with Baldev Raj Sharma as the candidate for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi constituency. All other candidates remain unchanged from the previous list released on Monday, which was later retracted. The BJP has yet to finalize its candidate for Nowshera, a seat previously represented by the party’s current state president, Ravinder Raina.
