Women Agniveer Vayu soldiers will be participating in the Indian Air Force contingent for the Republic Day parade this year. The Indian Air Force officials revealed the same on Monday.
After this period, those selected for enrolment in the Armed Forces as regular cadre would be required to serve for a further engagement period of at least 15 years. Meanwhile, two all-women contingents of the Defense Forces are scheduled to march at the Republic Day parade this year.
“One contingent will have 144 women soldiers, in which 60 will be from the Army and the remaining from the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy,” defense officials revealed. The contingent would also include female Agniveer soldiers who would be from the Navy and Air Force.
The Directorate General of the Armed Forces Medical Services will send another all-women contingent. This contingent will include nurses of the military nursing services, and they will be led by women doctors at the parade.
